Diplomatic Community Gathers at SDKJ-ICC for China's National Day Reception
The Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre welcomed members of The Gambia's diplomatic community, government officials and invited guests for a reception marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

On 28 September 2026, the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre (SDKJ-ICC) hosted a reception organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in The Gambia to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The event brought together more than 300 guests, including members of the diplomatic community, Gambian government officials, representatives of public institutions, members of the Chinese community and other invited guests.
Among those attending were representatives from diplomatic missions operating in The Gambia, highlighting the role such events play in bringing together the country’s international and institutional community.
The programme included remarks reflecting on relations between China and The Gambia, as well as cultural performances by Chinese and Gambian musicians.
The Gambia as a Venue for International Engagement
Beyond the occasion itself, the event provided another example of The Gambia’s growing role as a venue for diplomatic, institutional and international engagement.
SDKJ-ICC regularly provides facilities for conferences, official meetings, receptions, summits and other major events involving government institutions, diplomatic missions and international organisations.
Its ability to accommodate events of this scale contributes to The Gambia’s wider capacity to host international engagements and bring together representatives from different countries and institutions.
The reception concluded with cultural performances reflecting both Chinese and Gambian traditions.
