Visa Guidance for Hungarian Government Scholarship Recipients

The Office of the Honorary Consul of Hungary to The Gambia organized a visa guidance session for nine recipients of the Hungarian Government Scholarship in preparation for their studies in Hungary.

This year’s group represents the second cohort of Gambian scholarship recipients supported through the initiative, building on the successful experience of the first cohort in 2025. The continuation reflects the growing educational connection between Hungary and The Gambia and the Office’s ongoing role in supporting Gambian students as they prepare to pursue their studies in Hungary.

The session was designed to help the students understand the Hungarian Embassy’s online visa application process and ensure that they were properly prepared to complete the required procedures.

Students received guidance on the different sections of the online application, including personal and contact information, purpose of travel, passport and travel details, and supporting documentation.

The Office also identified key areas requiring clarification with the Embassy, including the appropriate visa category, duration of stay, visa fees and appointment procedures, to help minimize errors and avoid delays in processing before the students travel to Accra, Ghana, to formally apply for their visas. As part of the usual process at the Hungarian Embassy in Accra, the students are expected to complete the necessary consular procedures, including the submission of their visa applications, biometric data collection and an orientation session conducted by the Embassy’s Head of the Consular Section.

The initiative forms part of the Office’s continued support to Gambian scholarship recipients and builds on last year’s initial success, as a second cohort prepares to begin its academic journey in Hungary.
